This policy explains when fees paid through mEPermit can be refunded. Every fee is shown to you before you pay, and you will not be charged more than the amount shown at checkout.
1. What you pay for
mEPermit prepares your permit application documents. Where you use a private provider, the provider reviews them and, if they comply, the documents are delivered as deemed to comply. mEPermit does not issue permits: the building department issues the permit.

2. Permit document fees
- You see the fee and review your documents before you pay. Payment is the final step: your documents are generated and delivered as soon as payment is confirmed, so permit document fees are not refundable once paid. Please check your entries before paying.
- If delivery fails because of a problem on our side (for example the documents cannot be generated or sent), we will deliver them as soon as the problem is fixed, or refund the fee in full if we cannot.
- If the delivered documents contain an error that is ours, we will correct them at no charge. If we cannot correct them, we will refund the fee.
- Errors in information you entered (for example the address, folio, licence or product selections) are not ours. Corrections of that kind need a new submission.
- If you are charged twice for the same permit, the duplicate charge is refunded in full.
3. Commercial review fees
- Commercial review fees (Tier One, Tier Two and additional decks) are non-refundable once the review has started. The fee pays for the review itself, not for a particular outcome. A review that finds problems, or returns your submittal for correction, is a completed review.
- A commercial submittal is paid for when your documents are generated, and the documents are then held for review before they are released to you.
- If you cancel after paying but before the review starts, you will receive a partial refund: the review fee less a $150 document preparation charge (the same as the standard permit document fee), because your documents have already been generated. For example, a Tier One review refunds $600 and a Tier Two review refunds $1,350. Additional deck fees are refunded in full.
- The review fee includes two rounds of correction: we may return your submittal for correction, and the review of each corrected submittal is included, up to two times. A further round is charged as a new review.
4. Inspection visits
- If you cancel an inspection visit before it takes place, you will not be charged for it. If you already paid, it will be refunded. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled visit. A later cancellation, or a visit where the site is not ready or not accessible, is charged as a completed visit.
- Visits that take place are not refundable, whatever their result. A failed inspection is a completed inspection.
5. If a submission is voided
If a submission is voided before delivery for a reason that is ours, any unpaid charges are cancelled and paid fees are refunded. If it is voided because of information you supplied (for example an incorrect property or licence), the same rule as a cancellation applies: for a commercial submittal, a partial refund (less the $150 document preparation charge) if the review has not started, and no refund once it has. Permit document fees are not refundable once the documents have been delivered.
6. How to request a refund
- Email info@mepermit.com with your permit number and the reason for the request.
- We aim to respond within 5 business days.
- Approved refunds go back to the original payment method. Your bank may take 5–10 business days to show it.
7. Chargebacks
Please contact us before disputing a charge with your card issuer. Most problems can be resolved faster that way.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The version in effect when you paid applies to that payment.
